MAGNOLIA capitalized on the absence of Justin Patton to beat San Miguel, 120-101, on Sunday in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Clint Chapman made sure to take advantage by scoring 34 points as the Hotshots bounced back from their close defeat to Barangay Ginebra just last Friday to improve to 3-4 win-loss record.

The Beermen played all-Filipino with Justin Patton out and having missed practices since their loss to Rain or Shine on Wednesday.
Magnolia coach LA Tenorio said the team remained wary of the Beermen being the reigning Philippine Cup champions.
“I told them that this team (San Miguel) is dangerous without an import,” said Tenorio. “They are the all-Filipino champions for a reason. I challenged them kasi mas nakakatakot kalaban San Miguel kapag all-Fiipino.
"They responded to the challenge.”
Chapman made sure to exploit the absence of Patton early, scoring 13 points in the first quarter to help the Hotshots open a 30-22 lead. Magnolia's lead swelled to as high as 26 points, 88-62.
Jerom Lastimosa had 13 points and six assists, while Ian Sangalang had 12 points for the Hotshots.
Cjay Perez had 23 points but the Beermen fell to their second straight loss to go down to 3-4.
