SEAN Chambers will be an interested spectator from afar when two of his heralded colleagues in Tim Cone and LA Tenorio raise the curtains on PBA Season 50 as first-time rivals.

Once a longtime student of Cone, Tenorio now finds himself on the other side of the fence come Sunday’s Manila Clasico, as he takes on Barangay Ginebra to begin his Magnolia coaching tenure.

Chambers has close ties with the master-apprentice duo, from Alaska then to Gilas Pilipinas now.
As such, his choice between the two in their first coaching chess match? The one whom he happens to be a tad bit more familiar with.
“Sorry, LA, but I'm going with the veteran right now. But I wish LA well, I wish you well,” Chambers told SPIN.ph - the veteran being, of course, the PBA's winningest coach in Cone.
Wala pa ring tatalo sa Alaska
The six-time PBA champion will unfortunately miss the Magnolia-Ginebra clash, as the match coincides with winless Far Eastern University’s match against Adamson at Mall of Asia Arena.
“I love LA when he played with Alaska and you know my relationship with coach Tim. I think it's a phenomenal first game. We play that day so unfortunately, I can't be there,” the legendary PBA import said.
“I think it's just going to be a tremendous atmosphere for both of them.”

But he did commit to gracing this weekend’s PBA Fans Day scheduled before opening night to still be part of the league’s festivities, as it celebrates a major milestone for Asia’s first pro basketball league.
“For the 50th anniversary, I think I'll be at the anniversary celebration on the night before Saturday,” Chambers said.
