JASON Castro came up with 20 points and three others scored in double figures as Talk N Text debuted in the 2013 PBA Philippine Cup with an 89-80 victory on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.
Noy Baclao added 14 points, local player Eliud Poligrates chipped in with 13, and Kelly Williams was impressive in his first game back from a seven-month layoff due to an illness, delivering 10 points for the Texters.
Poligrates, a native of Poro in the Camotes Island, hit several baskets in a 17-4 fourth-quarter run by the Texters that turned a 64-66 deficit into an 81-70 lead.
The former Southwestern University star drained a fadeaway jumper to give the Texters a 76-68 lead.
Isolated on the right wing against David, Poligrates shook off the former scoring champion and stepped back to can a three-pointer for an 81-70 Talk ’N Text lead with 5:27 left.
The Bolts came within seven at several points but were pushed back down the stretch by points made by Castro and Baclao.
David, moved from Globalport to Meralco in the offseason, led the Bolts with 26 points but had a crucial three-point attempt blocked with a little over a minute remaining in the game. The only other Meralco player to reach double figures was Jared Dillinger with 11 points.
