AFTER a gruelling two-month buildup and a memorable campaign in the Fiba-Asia championships, Jayson Castro and the rest of the Gilas Pilipinas heroes are looking forward to some quality time with family.

Given a one-month break from his commitments with Talk 'N Text by owner Manny V. Pangilinan after Gilas' runner-up finish behind Iran in the biennial tournament, Castro said he will probably spend two weeks in his native Pampanga with family and friends.

The Fiba-Asia Mythical Five member said the two weeks will be a good time to catch up with family and friends who he had not seen in the three months when Gilas players made two training trips overseas and underwent daily training before taking on Asia's best in the Manila showpiece.

"Plan ko umuwi sa Pampanga sa mga relatives ko specially sa tita ko para makapag-bonding naman," said the 5-10 guard. "Kasi for three months hindi ako naka-uwi masyado kasi puro travel 'di ba?"

"So doon lang (sa Pampanga) relax sa bahay lang, spend time with famliy kasi close ako sa mga cousins ko at sa mga ibang relatives ko doon."

After taking care of business on the court, Gilas back-up Larry Fonacier is happy to devote more time in taking care of pregnant wife Lora as they await the arrival of their second child.

"Take care of my wife (kasi) due na siya sa October so alalay lang sa kanya sa bahay," said the Talk 'N Text star.

Gilas guard Jimmy Alapag and naturalized player Marcus Douthit left for a US vacation on Wednesday and failed to join the team in a tribute held during the PBA Governors Cup opening.
