ANTIPOLO CITY – Columbian Dyip coach Johnedel Cardel was whistled for a rare technical after storming to the court to contest a non-call entering the homestretch of the Dyip’s PBA Governors Cup game against NLEX.

In an unusual display of emotion, the soft-spoken mentor got the technical at the final 5:45 mark and the Dyip trailing, 91-99, after he felt the Dyip didn’t get the benefit of a call in two straight possessions.

“Sa harap ko pa, sundot sa likod. Dalawang beses walang tawag,” he said about what prompted him to lose his cool for a moment.

It was the first-ever technical foul for Cardel in four conferences so far for the Dyip.

“Pero calls ng referee. Wala naman akong magagawa roon. I just tried lang na baka sakaling mabago yung tawag,” he said.

“Ok lang. Ganun talaga, e. Part of the game.”

The outburst however, seemed to have awaken the Dyip as they managed to rally back and tied the game at 106-all on two free throws by import Khapri Alston.

Unfortunately, Jackson Corpuz fouled JR Quinahan while attempting from three-point range, resulting in three free throws for the veteran forward and put the Road Warriors on top for good.

The Dyip, who fell by as many as 17 points in the third quarter, evened their record at 3-3.

“Anyway even if we had a bad game, we still had a chance to win in the last seconds. We had a chance to win. Breaks of the game lang talaga,” said Cardel.
