TERRAFIRMA looks to pull off a stunner and keep its hopes alive for a quarterfinal berth against powerhouse San Miguel in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup.
Phoenix Super LPG also returns to the court to resume its drive for a twice-to-beat advantage when it faces Macau.
Here is a preview.
MACAU VS. PHOENIX SUPER LPG
When: Wednesday, May 6. 5:15 p.m.
Where: Ninoy Aquino Stadium
Twice-to-beat still in sight
Phoenix Super LPG remains in the hunt for a twice-to-beat advantage, its chances boosted by its 100-97 overtime win over TNT last Friday. The Fuelmasters have a 6-4 win-loss record, one game behind fourth-placer Meralco (7-3).
Eyes strong finish
Macau looks to close its campaign as guest team in the Commissioner's Cup with a victory. The Black Knights have only won two games, and previously lost to Terrafirma, 102-84.
Chongqui status
Macau’s loss to Terrafirma in their previous outing was marred by Damian Chongqui leaving the game and the venue altogether sometime in the fourth quarter, with Black Knights coach Marcus Elliott saying he is not aware about the reason why his star guard left the venue.
Ricci out
Phoenix coach Charles Tiu said Ricci Rivero will sit out Wednesday's game against Macau after a hand injury during their TNT game last Friday. Rivero was coming off a 31-point night and was the hero in the win over the Tropang 5G when he knocked down a go-ahead three in overtime. Even with Rivero out, Phoenix has the manpower to overcome Macau.
SAN MIGUEL VS. TERRAFIRMA
When: Wednesday, May 6. 7:30 p.m.
Where: Ninoy Aquino Stadium
Dyip look to stay alive
Terrafirma enters its game against San Miguel still with a chance at making it to the quarterfinals. At ninth place, the Dyip (4-6) are one-game behind the Beermen (5-5) in the team standings. Terrafirma kept its hopes alive following a 102-84 win over Macau.
SMB seeks to shut the door
San Miguel will look to complete the quarterfinal cast on Wednesday with a win over Terrafirma and eliminate the only team still with a shot at crashing the Top Eight. The Beermen will look to make it back-to-back wins after beating Meralco, 103-92, the last time out.
Geo Chiu vs. June Mar
Geo Chiu gets an acid test on Wednesday when he locks horns with nine-time MVP June Mar Fajardo. The No. 1 pick in the Season 50 Draft is coming off his finest performance of his young PBA career when he had 12 points and 11 rebounds against Macau. He will try to repeat that on Wednesday against ‘The Kraken’.
