BACOLOD – Calvin Oftana is the new three-point king of the PBA.
The TNT cager ruled the NUSTAR 3-Point Shootout by scoring 25 points in the final, beating last year’s champion Paul Lee of Magnolia and Chris Newsome of Meralco during the PBA All-Star Saturday at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

Oftana, the last shooter in the elimination round, made 22 points in the eliminations to steal the third and final spot from Kenneth Tuffin of Phoenix then waxed hot in the final as Lee and Newsome sputtered.
Oftana saved the best for last and bested the top scorers in the elimination round in Newsome (28) and Lee (25).

A native of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Oftana began to heat up in the second rack where he buried all five balls, and nailed the second and final three-point attempt from several steps behind the line.
The TNT player also went 3-of-5 from the fourth rack, and his competitors began cheering him on to score more.

Oftana scored the final ball of the last rack, where he was immediately congratulated by Lee and Newsome as he clinched the P30,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, Almazan proved he's one of the best shooting big men in the PBA after topping the NUSTAR Resort and Casino Long Distance Three-Point shootout (big men edition).
JM Calma, on the other hand, won the bragging rights as the new Obstacle Challenge champion of the All-Star festivities.
The Northport sophomore big man tallied the fastest time in the finals with 26 seconds to beat Santi Santillan of Rain or Shine and James Laput of Magnolia to win the champion's purse of P30,000.
