CHICAGO - With barely 48 hours before its PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals battle against Magnolia, TNT's grand slam bid has taken another hit.
Serial scorer Calvin Oftana remains "day-to-day" after spraining his ankle in the second quarter of the Tropang 5G's final elimination-round game last Sunday when they dropped a crucial 88-83 loss to the Hotshots.

"The ankle is still swollen and he has difficulty walking," a source told SPIN.ph on Monday night.
The injury, the source added, is a "high-grade sprain" which has turned purple, an indication that "small blood vessels are damaged and blood leaks into the tissues" according to sports-health.com.

Oftana averaged 20.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 11 games this conference while shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range. His potential absence or playing at less than 100 percent healthy is a huge blow for TNT.
But that's just how brutal it has been of late for the signature franchise of the MVP Group which saw Jayson Castro exit the remainder of Season 49 with a right knee injury while Rey Nambatac has been out with a groin injury.
