CALVIN Oftana can’t help but be frustrated at the result of Game Four after his best performance in the PBA Governors’ Cup finals.

Oftana had 26 points, while shooting 9-for-16 (56 percent) from the field last Sunday, but his performance, which also saw him drain a finals-high four threes, went down the drain as TNT lost to Barangay Ginebra, 106-92.

After the game, Oftana expressed dismay that his effort still resulted in a defeat.

“Hindi maganda ‘yung production ko sa scoring pero nananalo kami,” said Oftana, referring to the first two games of the finals series that TNT won. “Hindi ko nga alam kung saan ako nagkukulang.”

Prior to Game Four, Oftana was averaging 10.3 points while shooting 41 percent from the field. His numbers including his Game One output where he had nine points but missed all of his three attempts from threes.

“Lahat ginawa ko pero wala, talo talaga sa mga ganung bagay. I’ll think about it, adjust na lang,” said Oftana.

Last Sunday, Oftana said he would have wanted to have more touches in the game. After the first half where he had 20 points, the former NCAA MVP only had six in the second half, shooting 2-for-5 from the field.

“Just to be honest, nafu-frustrate ako,” said Oftana. “Hindi na ako nakakahawak ng bola. Feel na feel ko ang laro. Sa isang player, alam mo naman sa sarili mo kung mainit ka o hindi," he shared

“Pero ganun talaga ‘yung basketball. Hindi naman umiikot sa akin, may mga kasama rin ako."

Despite his frustrations, the former San Beda star, however, vowed to improve as TNT looks to snap its losing slump against Barangay Ginebra in Game Five to be played on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Oftana pointed defense as areas of improvement for himself especially with what happened in Game Four where Justin Brownlee and the likes of Maverick Ahanmisi and Stephen Holt made the big shots in the end game.

“Maraming miscommunication sa depensa especially kay Justin. Pero it’s tough to gamble na hindi mag-switch kasi magaling din si RJ at si Ahanmisi sa ball screen eh. Parang nag-gamble kami sa mga ganung bagay. Na-shoot nila ‘yung mga miscommunication sa depensa,” said Oftana.
