CALVIN Abueva has been discharged from the hospital but won’t be seeing action yet for Magnolia when it shoots for a second straight win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday.
The Hotshots battle the Converge FiberXers at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, with Abueva sitting out the 5 p.m. game as he continues to recover from the neck spasm he suffered Thursday night against Blackwater.

Commissioner Willie Marcial was able to communicate with the veteran Magnolia forward on Friday and was told he’s been released from the Manila Doctors hospital.
“Hindi na siya nag-overnight sa hospital. Pinauwi din siya,” said Marcial.
But doctors said Abueva is still under observation after being hit inadvertently by an elbow from Blackwater rookie Sedrick Barefield.
“Medyo nahihilo pa kasi siya, kaya advice din sa kanya na pakiramdaman niya muna yung kundisyon niya,” said Marcial, who nonetheless said no concussion protocol was required for Abueva.
“Walang concussion protocol yun. Pero may neck brace yatang pinasusuot sa kanya,” added the commissioner.

Abueva, 36, was rushed to the hospital following the collision with Barefield in the Hotshots-Bossing game at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Magnolia won, 118-100, with Abueva contributing two points and three rebounds before his exit.
He’ll be available to play for the Hotshots on Wednesday against Northport.
