THE PBA as expected acted hard on Magnolia forward Calvin Abueva for flashing a dirty finger before a national television audience during the Barangay Ginebra-Magnolia Manila Clasico on Sunday.

Commissioner Willie Marcial suspended the controversial player for one game and hit him with a P20,000 fine after personally meeting him on Wednesday at the PBA office.

Abueva to miss NLEX match

The suspension is effective immediately as Abueva will be missing the Hotshots' Philippine Cup game against the NLEX Road Warriors on Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Magnolia has also been informed about the league's decision on the 36-year-old Abueva.

"Calvin Abueva sinuspende ko ng one game. One game suspension at P20,000 fine," said Marcial in an informal presser during halftime of the Terrafirma-Meralco game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"Kapag inulit niya pa yun, sabi ko dadagdagan ko yung suspension niya, dadagdagan ko yung fine niya. Sabi niya hindi niya na uulitin pa iyon. Pero tingnan natin."

The product of San Sebastian was caught on TV flashing an obscene gesture to a fan at ringside late in the opening period of the Ginebra-Magnolia match.

Marcial has an advice to Abueva should the same incident happens.

"Sa susunod sabihin mo yun sa referee, puntahan mo yung technical (committee), puntahan mo ako, at kakausapin natin yung fan na puwede nating palabasin," said the commissioner.

"Huwag nang ikaw mismo ang gagawa nun kasi ang pangit tingnan."

It is the second time in almost two months that Abueva has been fined by the league.

During Game 2 of the Commissioner's Cup Finals, the Magnolia star was meted with a P100,000 fine for mocking the physical disability of San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent, an act which again was caught on national television.
