CALVIN Abueva may have escaped punishment from the referees, but not from the PBA.
The league has cracked the whip on the Alaska star, suspending him for one game in the Governors’ Cup and slapping him with a P22,000 fine for his elbow to the face of Ginebra wingman Chris Ellis in their game last Sunday night.
As he was getting up after they got entangled in a hustle play early in the fourth quarter, Abueva swung an elbow at Ellis - a second motion the referees missed but was caught on TV replays, which the league reviewed.
Abueva will thus miss the Aces’ game on Friday night in Antipolo against TNT Katropa.
