CALVIN Abueva will remain suspended come the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup until he finishes the requirements needed for his sanction to be lifted.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said Abueva is still suspended for the coming conference but he is still speaking with the controversial forward about the matter.
“Nag-uusap kami. May pinag-uusapan pa kami. May pinapagawa pa ako,” said Marcial without elaborating during Monday’s press conference at the Conrad Hotel.
Abueva was suspended by the PBA after he hit TNT import Terrence Jones with a clothesline last June in a Commissioner’s Cup game at the Ynares Center.
The Phoenix Pulse star, however, has been practicing with the team since September, but Abueva hasn’t played in tune-up games against PBA teams during the build-up for the 2020 PBA season.
Marcial added that once Abueva completes the requirements, he will elevate the decision to the PBA board.
“Kapag naayos agad ‘yun at okay na, ie-elevate ko sa board kung ano ang recommendation ko,” he added.
