CALVIN Abueva would rather keep mum about the latest brouhaha he’s been involved in in the PBA.
‘Wala yun, wala yun,’ said the undersized power forward when asked regarding the incident involving him and back-up guard Jonathan Uyloan that underlined how physical Game Four was between Rain or Shine and Alaska on Christmas Day at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“No comment ako run.”
With the game on the line, Abueva was caught hitting Uyloan in the stomach that left the Rain or Shine stalwart down on the floor for several minutes. The Aces were only trailing, 92-89, with 1:43 left when the commotion happened.
The former San Sebastian star was called for a flagrant foul 2 for an outright ejection in the game. The Elasto Painters went on and posted a 98-91 win to level the best-of-seven series at 2-2.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao branded Abueva's move as 'stupid' and admitted it turned the tide in the Elasto Painters' favor, but the former NCAA MVP refused to talk about the matter when he stepped out of the Alaska locker room.
“Let’s just play, let’s just play,” he said with both arms held up high as he hurriedly made his way past a horde of media men.
Before Game Five of the series, however, Abueva will have to appear before Commissioner Chito Salud who will decide if sanctions are in order after the incident.
Even Uyloan himself was stunned with what happened.
"I don’t know what happened. It's just an emotional game. He just hit me," he said.
