PBA slaps Calvin Abueva P10K fine for antics in games against NLEX, SMB
Oct 15, 2018

THE PBA wouldn’t let Calvin Abueva get away with his usual antics.

The Phoenix stalwart was hit with a P10,000 fine on Monday by the Commissioner’s Office for flashing a dirty finger in each of the Fuel Masters’ last two games in the PBA Governors Cup.

Abueva was summoned by Commissioner Willie Marcial at the league office on Monday.

The 30-year-old Abueva was sanctioned for P4K for flashing the dirty finger as the Fuel Masters routed the NLEX Road Warriors last Wednesday, 123-97.

He was caught on camera doing the same thing again two days after in a 117-100 loss to San Miguel in which Abueva was also involved in an incident against import Kevin Murphy.

The play happened at the 4:11 mark of the final quarter when Abueva appeared to be caught in a choke hold by Murphy after a rebound scramble.

Murphy was later assessed a flagrant foul penalty 1, which Abueva and the rest of the Fuel Masters believed should have been an F2 infraction and an outright ejection.
