CALVIN Abueva failed to suit up for the North team in Sunday’s PBA All-Star game versus the South at the Smart Araneta Coliseum because of illness.
‘The Beast’ was a no-show during the annual spectacle, with league officials saying he had been nursing a flu since Friday and is currently confined in a hospital.
However, other sources said Abueva is suffering from chronic tonsilitis and kidney dehydration.
“Hindi bumababa yung lagnat niya kaya naka-confine sa hospital ngayon,” said PBA deputy commissioner Rickie Santos just before the 7 p.m. game time.
The Alaska forward even failed to attend the scheduled Saturday practice of the North team also at the Big Dome.
Abueva however, still managed to attend one of the league’s activities during the All-Star festivities when members of both the North and South teams visited the wounded soldiers at the V. Luna General Hospital.
No replacement was put in place of the Alaska star.
