CLARK FREEPORT – A delay in schedule kept Calvin Abueva from completing his webinar with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), although the Phoenix Super LPG forward is just a step away from fulfilling all that is required of him.

The Angeles City native attended the second of a three-part seminar on Thursday morning in which GAB said Abueva was ‘able to submit his tasked activities from our last session in a timely manner.’

The 32-year-old Abueva was originally set to attend the webinar for three straight nights starting last Monday until Wednesday.

Unfortunately, conflict in schedules led to the deferral of the original timetable.

“Bale, sumusunod lang kami sa schedule and availability ng GAB,” said Phoenix team manager Paolo Bugia.

GAB chairman Abraham Mitra admitted a rescheduling in the supposed seminar that should have been through on Wednesday.

“Wala pang schedule for the moment, inaayos pa lang,” he said on when the last day of seminar would be held.

During the first two seminars, Abueva was tasked to do some homework as sort of an activity.

This developed as Bugia said Abueva has already undergone drug testing at the Quest Hotel, the result of which has been forwarded, too, to the GAB office.

Likewise, done is the physical test on ‘The Beast’ as well as his medical certificate.

All of the process is part of GAB’s requirement for Abueva to be issued a new playing license as his previous one had been revoked following his indefinite suspension from the PBA.

After acquiring his playing license, Abueva will await any directive from Commissioner Willie Marcial, who has the final say regarding lifting of the controversial forward’s suspension, which is now on its 15th month.

Phoenix management is keeping its fingers crossed Abueva will finally be allowed to play in time for the Fuel Masters’ first game against Meralco on Oct. 12 in the Philippine Cup bubble at the Angeles University Foundation.
