CALVIN Abueva sat out Alaska's next game - either due to an ankle sprain or a disciplinary action after failing to show up in practice, depending on who you want to believe.
He didn't last long in his comeback game, either.
'The Beast' played no more than 15 minutes in Alaska Milk's do-or-die game against Barako Bull on Sunday, no thanks to foul trouble which he blamed on his overeagerness to perform.
Last season's Rookie of the Year awardee contributed nine points and seven rebounds before leaving the game for good on fouls with still more than 10 minutes to go in the Aces' 89-80 win over the Energy.
Abueva said his eagerness to make a difference after missing out on Alaska's previous game may have caused him to overdo things a bit - and get into foul trouble.
“Okay lang, eh ganun yung laro ko eh, wala tayong magagawa. Meron sigurong gigil, saka di ako nakapaglaro ng last game,” Abueva said while walking out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum after the game.
The Alaska win set it up for a do-or-die match with Meralco on Monday for the eighth and last berth in the playoffs - and a rematch between Abueva and Jared Dillinger just days after infamous scuffle that led to fines for both players totalling P23,000.
Abueva, though, had little to say about the grudge match.
“Di ko alam, bahala na,” he said.
