CALVIN Abueva put his condition somewhere at 70 percent after playing his first game for Magnolia in the preseason.
"Siguro nasa 70 (percent), kulang pa ng 30," he disclosed. "Pero that doesn't mean hindi mo gagawin na maging 100 percent this preseason."
Although not yet at full fitness, 'The Beast' didn't do badly in his PBA On Tour debut, finishing with nine poins and a game-high 16 rebounds in Magnolia's 94-65 rout of San Miguel on Sunday night at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Abueva though shot just 3-of-8 from the field.
"Kulang pa ng hangin," he added.
Abueva's energy and work off the boards helped the Hotshots outclass the undermanned Beermen in rebounds, 61-33.
The effort helped Magnolia keep its unbeaten record to eight games, and something which Abueva didn't jinx as he feared.
"I did my best na maka 7-0 this preseason. At least di ako nakasira sa momentum nila. Kaya maganda itong pagkakabalik ko," said the 35-year-old veteran forward.
