MARK Caguioa had to be taken out early in the first quarter of Ginebra’s Philippine Cup game against defending champion Talk `N Text Sunday night after suffering a cut on his left eye.
The reigning league MVP was hit hard on the eye by Tropang Texter big man Ali Peek during a rebound play, but it was the protective goggle that was wearing that caused the cut.
Caguioa, who has to wear protective glasses while playing after injuring his eye last season - already had four points on 2-of-3 shooting and five rebounds when the incident took place.
After he was taped up at the Ginebra dugout, Caguioa promptly return to the court with 4:14 to go in the second period.
