ROOKIE hopefuls who failed to attend the traditional PBA biometrics measurement on Monday at the Hoops Center in Mandaluyong are in danger of being stricken off the list of rookie hopefuls ahead of the PBA draft on Sunday.
Given warnings by the league for being absent in the pre-draft event were former Ateneo star Ryan Buenafe, former University of Santo Tomas guard Japs Cuan, player-actor Ervic Vijandre, Mar Villahermosa, Jumel Chien, Carlos Fenequito, Franz Delgado, and Mark Berry.
“Pwedeng matanggal pag hindi vaild `yung reason,” said PBA operations staff Junior Bengua, who supervised the biometrics measurements.
Agent Marvin Espritu, who represents Buenafe, said the Ateneo star has been suffering from the flu for four days and will present a medical certificate before the PBA office to prove this.
“Nasa isip niya magaling na siya by today pero nanghihina pa. Kaysa pilitin niya, baka pumangit pa ang ipakita niya dito,” Espiritu said.
The league has yet to determine the reasons behind the no-shows of the seven other rookie hopefuls.
