Bryan Sajonia's rising PBA career set back by ACL, MCL, PCL tears

BRYAN Sajonia's blossoming PBA career has suffered a major setback when doctors confirmed on Thursday that the Titan Ultra rookie has suffered multiple ligament tears in his left knee, team officials said.

The 5-foot-11 rookie guard out of San Beda is widely considered by coaches as the steal of the last PBA draft at 39th overall, turning heads with his splendid play for the Giant Risers this season.

However, his first pro season came to a sad and abrupt end when his left knee buckled under his own weight while trying to finish off a fastbreak in the Giant Risers' lopsided loss to San Miguel in the Governors' Cup group stage.

On Thursday, Titan officials confirmed that an examination revealed the 26-year old freshman has suffered tears to the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral ligament) and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) in his left knee.

Sajonia is expected to go under the knife in the next few days, team officials said.
