JUSTIN Brownlee of Barangay Ginebra captured his very first PBA Best Import award in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Brownlee bested San Miguel's Renaldo Balkman, his former teammate in San Miguel Alab Pilipinas' run to the 2017-2018 Asean Basketball League (ABL) championship.
He received the Best Import trophy before Game Four of the Commissioner’s Cup finals.
Brownlee, one of the shortest imports in the midseason conference, scored 1,209 points after topping the statistical points, media votes, player votes, and Office of the Commissioner votes.
Balkman came in second with 858 points after getting 504 statistical points, 261 media votes, 68 player votes, and 25 votes from the Office of the Commissioner.
Reggie Johnson of Rain or Shine was third with 650 points (473 statistical points, 76 media votes, 26 player votes, and 75 Office of the Commissioner votes), while Diamon Simpson of Alaska came in fourth with 491 points (484 statistical points, two media votes, five player votes).
Brownlee came in as a replacement for Charles Garcia and led the Kings to eight straight victories during the elimination and playoffs on the way to the finals.
