BRIAN Heruela is not taking the trade to Blackwater from TNT in a negative way as he is excited to help his new team win games in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Heruela returned to the team that drafted him in the third round in 2014, after the Elite were able to acquire him from TNT in exchange of Mike DiGregorio. Heruela though is coming off a Commissioner’s Cup where he had a solid campaign with the KaTropa, who are currently unbeaten in seven games of the ongoing Governors’ Cup.

The 30-year-old Heruela, however, is taking a positive approach to the trade, his second in 10 months after he was also part of the deal that sent Terrence Romeo to San Miguel prior to the ongoing PBA season.

“It’s really okay with me. Anything can happen,” said Heruela. “It’s a business. I just try to keep it positive wherever you go as a basketball player. You just have to be ready at all times and be thankful and blessed that teams want you.”

Heruela played for 13 minutes in his first game back with Blackwater. He was scoreless but dished out three assists in the Elite’s 99-82 loss to Rain or Shine on Wednesday.

The former University of Cebu standout said he is looking forward to contributing to Blackwater, which is now at 2-5 with the defeat against Rain or Shine.

“I’m adjusting. I’ve just been there for a couple of practices. I’m still trying to learn everything on what they are trying to do. Hopefully, I’ll do a better job in adjusting to the team next game and hopefully, we can win,” said Heruela.

Heruela is also eyeing to bounce back in the next couple of games after his debut match ended with a defeat.

“It didn’t go well as planned but we are very optimistic and positive. Hopefully, makabawi kami next game. We just have lapses that we have to fix offensively and defensively. We just had a bad game. We just try to recover and hopefully, we will do well next game,” said Heruela.
