BRIAN Heruela admitted that as early as the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, he was already playing through injury on his right shoulder which eventually kept him out from the early stages of the Governors Cup.
“Game 4 of the championship [versus TNT],” he curtly replied after he was asked when he sustained the partial tear on his tendon.
The warrior that he is, the Fil-Am guard from Cebu decided to play on despite the pain in his desire to help TnT Katropa win the championship. Unfortunately the team lost in six games to San Miguel.
During the break in between conferences, Heruela decided to undergo PRP and rehabilitate for more than a month.
“We decided to rehab and I’m thankful to get back right now,” said the 30-year-old product of University of Cebu.
The injury kept Heruela from joining TnT's campaign during the East Asia League Terrific 12 in Macau and missed the team’s first four games in the season’s final conference.
Although he’ still trying to get his rhythm back, Heruela was already good to play on Wednesday and he helped the Katropa raised their record to a league-best 5-0 after eking out a 103-100 win over NorthPort at the Astrodome.
Heruela finished with only two points and a single rebound and assist in 13 minutes of play, but he was more than happy to be back playing on the court again.
“I was just so excited to be back with my team, help them in whatever way I can. And I’m very thankful we got the win tonight,” he said.
