BRANDON Ganuelas-Rosser asserted himself immediately in his first game with NLEX on Friday.

The top pick in the recent draft was a force on defense, blocking five shots while also grabbing 10 rebounds, including seven on the defensive end in the Road Warriors’ 96-90 win over Rain or Shine.

“I felt good to just get back out there and play and start the conference off with a win,” said Ganuelas-Rosser, who scored four points but made an impact on the other facet of his game. “I think we played really good in the second half and luckily, we were able to pull away with a win.”

Ganuelas-Rosser admitted he is still finding his way with the team, which is why his sole focus was to contribute on defense and provide energy

“I’m still getting adjusted with the team. I’ve been with them for only three days. Just trying to find my space on the court whether it’s on offense and stuff. Right now, especially today, I just relied on my defense and my athleticism and energy, and just try to be positive with my communication with the team,” said Ganuelas-Rosser.

Adonis TierraAdonis Tierra is in charge for two games before Frankie Lim is expected to take over.

Ganuelas-Rosser was sent to NLEX after TNT got Calvin Oftana and Raul Soyud, and his former team Blackwater received Troy Rosario and Gab Banal.

The 28-year-old Ganuelas-Rosser said he is taking the trade in stride as it is part of being a professional basketball player.

“I was surprised. I was really surprised. I was really looking forward to starting this conference with Blackwater. But it is what it is. This is the nature of the business and I really appreciate everything from Blackwater, management all the way down. I’m with NLEX now. I’m excited to be with NLEX. I’m excited that we won today,” said Ganuelas-Rosser.

The versatile big man said he is also making sure that he adopts quickly following a change in the NLEX coaching situation where it has hired Frankie Lim as the permanent coach after Adonis Tierra took over on an interim basis.

“I was joking with Asi the other day. This was like my third coach in three weeks. Just trying to be professional and be adaptable. Whatever the coaches need me to do, I’m going to do. Everybody making sure that we stay together and stick together with this transition. When coach Frankie comes, he is going to have his spin of things and way of things. I’m looking forward to it. He came to practice the other day. He had a lot of good energy and a lot of things to say,” said Ganuelas-Rosser.
