FORMER PBA player Boybits Victoria has finally been discharged from hospital after almost a month's stay due to a rare autoimmune disorder.

Popular sports columnist Nap Gutierrez, a close friend of the Victorias, disclosed the 45-year-old cager is now back home for the first time since he was diagnosed to be suffering from Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a serious disorder in which the immune system attacks healthy nerve cells in the peripheral nervous system, leading to weakness and numbness of the body.

He was initially confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the San Juan de Dios hospital and put on a ventilator/respirator to help him breathe until he can do it on his own.

But Victoria still needs to undergo rehabilitation to fully recover from his illness, according to Gutierrez.

For how long, it all depends on how his body will respond, he added.

After a long PBA career, Victoria has become part of the PBA radio coverage and is head of sales of Victoria Sports, an indoor sports club in Quezon City, by the time he fell ill.
