SOPHOMORE guard Mark Barroca needed six stitches on his left eyebrow after being hit by a wayward elbow from Meralco import Eric Dawson during the dying minutes of San Mig Coffee's Game Two on Sunday night.
Barroca, who has played through sprained ankles, hurting foot, and bruised arms, among others during his two-season stint with the Mixers, said getting his boxer's cut stitched up still sent chills down his spine.
“Kinabahan ako nung tinahi na ni doc, kasi dati pag natatamaan ako dito (pointing to his right eyebrow), dinidikit lang. Walang tahi,” Barroca said after the game.
If not for the blood oozing from the open wound, Barroca said he would have wanted to play till the end of the 100-92 victory that sent the best-of-three series to a deciding game on Wednesday.
“Kanina wala namang sakit eh, gusto ko pa maglaro pero dumudugo na eh so wala na, di na kaya,” added the former Smart Gilas guard, who finished the game with nine points, four rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes.
Barroca said despite a swollen left eye, he intends to join the team’s practice on Monday morning at the Ronac gym and intends to do some extra shooting practice to keep himself sharp for Wednesday.
