ALMOST the entire Sotto clan - from wife Danica to celebrated father-in-law Vic - clan were at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum to show its support and boost the morale of injured San Mig star Marc Pingris in Game Five of the PLDT myDSL-PBA Philippine Cup.
Although still smarting from the eye injury he suffered in Game Four, Pingris came through with MVP-like numbers of 18 points and 15 rebounds in an effort that went down the drain following the Mixers’ 81-74 loss to Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Despite Pingris playing through the pain and hardly showing any sign of slowing down, his wife Danica couldn't help but be concerned with the health of her husband.
“Siyempre, nag-aalala pa rin ako sa lagay niya. Pero binibigay niya lahat ng kaya niya para sa team,” said Danica, who watched the game from the patron seats along with children Caela and Mic, his dad Vic, and other members of the Sotto clan.
Pingris also finished with two assists and one block just two days after accidentally being poked in the right eye by Rain or Shine’s JR Quinahan during Game Four of the title series.
“Tinitiis niya lang ang sakit, pero si God na lang ang bahala. May tiwala ako na makakabawi siya,” added the ever supportive wife.
Vic Sotto, who was just seated beside the San Mig bench, said he still believes Pingris and the rest of the Mixers will bring home the bacon by Wednesday.
“Madalas naman ako manood, support ko (kay Marc). Makakabawi yan,” said the TV host/ comedian, who hurriedly left the venue following the game.
The elder Sotto said only son Oyo Boy was not around during the game.
San Mig Coffee still leads the series, 3-2, with Game Six set on Wednesday also at the Big Dome.
