TNT Katropa is ready to move on, frustrating as a loss to Meralco on Wednesday night in the PBA Philippine Cup may be.
Coaches Bong Ravena and consultant Mark Dickel kept it simple for the Katropa in the post-game huddle that followed their 88-77 setback at the Astrodome in a game where they led by as much as 21 points in the first half.
“Just learn from that loss and be better next game,” Ravena told his players. “We just have to learn from that game, sa mga ganung klaseng laro.”
Ravena admitted the Katropa had no one to blame but themselves. After taking a 30-9 lead early in the second quarter, the team appeared to have slackened a bit.
“We saw that our defense started to loosen up instead of go for the kill sana,” said the Katropa mentor. “Medyo nag-relax din siguro sa depensa.”
The loss snapped TnT’s two-game winning streak, just three days after the team brought down defending champion San Miguel Beer. Its record currently stands at 2-3.
But Ravena isn’t taking the credit away from the Bolts (2-2).
“Ini-expect namin that Meralco will play hard against us,” he said. “We had it in the first quarter, kaya lang di namin na-sustain.
“Then they started to come back and then wala na, hindi na namin na-sustain yung momentum nila.”
