BLACKWATER denied Alaska of an outright quarterfinals berth after pulling off a 112-104 victory in the penultimate day of the PBA Commissioner's Cup eliminations at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Roi Sumang, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, and rookie Ray Parks combined to score key baskets for the Elite down the stretch ro frustrate the skidding Aces on Sunday.
The Elite finished their elims campaign with a 7-4 record and took the no. 3 seed in the playoffs, the highest ever reached by the team in franchise history.
But it was more of a sorry loss for the Aces, who suffered a fifth straight loss to tumble at 4-7 in a tie with Phoenix for the no. 8 spot.
Alaska now awaits the outcome of the final day of the elims to determine its opponent in the playoffs for the remaining quarterfinals berth.
"We want to get a win before the playoffs para magkaroon kami ng kumpiyansa," said Blackwater coach Aris Dimaunahan.
