BLACKWATER is raising the ante as far as its offer to rookie star Bobby Ray Parks is concerned.
The Elite are set to give Parks a revised offer worth the maximum salary for rookies good for three years, SPIN.ph learned from multiple sources.
Previously, the No. 2 overall pick was given a two-year tender offer submitted to the PBA office last Thursday, just to comply with a league rule that gives teams five days to tender an offer to keep their signing rights on first-round picks.
Blackwater management has yet to reply to messages seeking comment at posting time. It also has yet to break its silence on a reported plan to ship Parks to Meralco under a three-team trade also involving TNT.
Parks continues to play for Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League, helping the Philippine side pull off a 77-71 win over the Singapore Slingers on Sunday night at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
Parks had 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals as the defending champions kept their unbeaten slate through four games.
The trade offer however, could only be sent to the PBA office when it resumes operations on Thursday.
Under the revised term, Parks is set to receive a package worth P10.4 million, including the maximum league salary of P420K on the third and final year of the contract as per the new rookie salary cap to be implemented by the league starting this season.
The son of the late legendary import Bobby Parks is initially offered a total of P5.4 million salary spread over two years or broken as P200K on the first year and P250K the following season.
