BLACKWATER has been granted an audience from the Games and Amusements Board after the Elite held a training session prior to the formal return of practice in the PBA.
GAB chairman Baham Mitra confirmed that Blackwater governor Silliman Sy has contacted them and assured the team will reply to its inquiry on the practice incident.
“We received a call from Mr. Silliman Sy the other day, the member of governors representing Blackwater, saying that his brother was just misquoted and that they have received and will reply to our show cause letter,” said Mitra.
The Elite were recently fined P100,000 after Blackwater team owner Dioceldo Sy bared in an interview over Cignal TV’s Sports Page that his team is already holding training sessions under the same protocols as the PBA ahead of the formal start of practice either on July 20 or 22.

Blackwater has also been ordered to have its players tested for COVID-19, and undergo a seven-day quarantine.
In an offshoot of Sy’s statements, the Blackwater owner later said he will be selling his PBA franchise for P150 million, saying that he has had enough of the professional league.
Due to his statements, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the league will investigate Sy.
Mitra said Blackwater officials will be meeting with GAB commissioner Eduard Trinidad and chief legal counsel Ermar Benitez.
Mitra said the GAB will also be making an inquiry in its efforts for professional sports particularly basketball to be held even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are just being careful as this might jeopardize the efforts of GAB, PBA and our sports patrons who have done our very best in requesting the IATF permission to practice even during the pandemic,” said Mitra.
