THE entire Blackwater team is negative and COVID-19 free.
Players, coaching staff, and even utilities of the Elite did rapid testing for the coronavirus on Saturday, with none of them being positive of the virus.
Testing was done at the Healthquest laboratory.
“Negative lahat,” quipped team manager Jacob Muñez.
Team owner Dioceldo Sy, alternate governor and PBA Board treasurer Siliman Sy, and other Blackwater officials also tested negative after undergoing a separate procedure earlier.
The Elite are the latest PBA team to undergo testing outside of those from the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) groups.
San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra, and Magnolia had all been tested negative of COVID, so did NLEX, Meralco, and TnT Katropa.
Testing of teams is a major prerequisite the PBA Commissioner’s Office has included in the safety protocols the league submitted to the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Diseases) which will be implemented once team training is finally allowed to resume.
PBA employees and staff had also been tested of COVID-19 and all came out negative.
