DON'T look now, but Bobby Ray Parks has likely played his final game with Blackwater.
And his long-overdue move to the MVP is about to happen - just not to Meralco but the TNT KaTropa.
SPIN.ph sources confirmed on Wednesday that a deal is almost in place to send the son of the great Bobby Parks to the KaTropa in exchange for two future first-round draft picks, Don Trollano, and likely one of the Semerad twins.
SPIN.ph's Snow Badua was the first to tweet about the trade talks.
Blackwater and TNT, the sources added, have been going back and forth for the past week on a trade that would give the young Parks a new home after a rookie season spent with both Alab in the ABL and the Elite in the PBA.
However, the final version of the trade won't be known until Monday when the trade committee of the Commissioner's Office sits down to scrutinize one of the biggest deals to be done this season.
The league office will be on holiday on Thursday, meaning the earliest the trade proposal can be received and scrutinized is Monday.
Parks, a former MVP in both the UAAP and the ABL, came on the verge of being traded to Meralco just days after being drafted No. 2 overall by Blackwater last December. But the deal got sidetracked - and eventually dropped.
Nothing was heard of a deal again until last week, when, sources said, top officials of Blackwater and TNT started talking on a trade that would see Parks boost a rejigged KaTropa lineup led by Jayson Castro.
Sources said the likely final version of the trade will see TNT send Trollano and two first-round picks in 2019 and 2021 to Blackwater. One of the Semerad brothers, likely Anthony, will be thrown in if the PBA shoots down the original deal, the source added.
