BLACKWATER will be coming into the PBA Governor's Cup with a much bigger purpose as it looks to spread awareness on the rare disease.
The Elite, alongside Ever Bilena and CCIP, have inked a partnership with Hope for Lupus, a non-government organization which supports Lupus patients all over the Philippines.
"In the next conference, we will be putting the Hope for Lupus logo on our jersey instead of Ever Bilena. Hopefully this will raise more awareness for Lupus," said Dioceldo Sy in the official signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on Monday at the PBA Cafe.
"We are also planning to have a marathon probably early next year. We hope this is a start of a long, fruitful partnership with Hope for Lupus. We look forward for everybody to support the foundation," he added.
Lupus is a disease that not many in the country are aware of and has claimed lives, many of which are Filipinas with ages ranging from 15-44 years old.
Some signs of the disease are rashes, unexplained fever, joint pains and hair loss.
Despite the many symptoms, lupus is still a disease that is yet to be given focus in the country.
That is why Emmeline Aglipay-Villar, founder of Hope for Lupus, is just thankful for the support of the Ever Bilena group in their cause.
"We're just thankful for their support as we are yet to have major sponsors for this organization," said Villar.
"We should be spreading awareness, not only for the patients, but in the medical field as well."
