NORMAN Black hinted at a possible shakeup at Meralco following yet another early PBA Philippine Cup exit for the franchise.

“I’m sure between now and the next conference something will happen,” said Black after an 86-76 loss to Barangay Ginebra on Wednesday night had the Bolts tumbling out of contention for the playoffs with a 3-8 record.

Although he refused to elaborate, the veteran mentor said it could involve Meralco’s guard rotation, further raising speculations the aborted trade for No. 2 overall pick Rayray Parks may just be revived.

The Bolts had tried in the preseason to acquire the services of the talented Fil-Am guard out of National University in a three-team deal that involves Blackwater and sister team TnT Katropa.

The trade will have Blackwater sending Parks to Meralco where he will be playing for Black, his godfather and a close friend of his late father Bobby Parks.

The deal also involved Baser Amer ending up with TnT Katropa, and Jericho Cruz and Brian Heruela moving over at Blackwater.

The potentially blockbuster trade was nipped in the bud, with Parks set to play out the remainder of his contract with Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) before he makes his much-awaited PBA debut.

But following Black’s disclosure, talks about Parks coming on board Meralco instead of Blackwater – which selected him No. 2 in the last draft - has surfaced once again.

“I can’t tell you what it is, but something will happen,” said the Meralco coach.
