SHAWN Taggart's wish for his 32nd birthday is to hit the lottery and enjoy the rest of his life in luxury.

But since that is far fetched, a victory will do.

He got exactly what he wished for as Rain or Shine remained unscathed in the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a 95-88 victory over Blackwater on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

"My birthday wish is to hit the lottery so I won't have to play basketball," Taggart said, laughing heartily. "But of course, I'd take the win any day of the week. I dont care if it's one point or half a point, I'd take a win."

Taggart was business as usual in the victory as he finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Elasto Painters to their third win in as many games.

But for Taggart, the key was getting the timely stops late as they held the Elite without a field goal in the waning moments of the game after trailing for the most part.

"I felt like we didn't shoot the ball well, especially me. We played defense towards the end of the fourth to take control of the game, just made stops in the end," said Taggart.

Despite the rough start for his squad, Taggart said they're bound to get better as the conference progresses.

"We come in practices and we play games, I feel like we're getting better and better. All our shooters were off right now but we play great defense and we play good team basketball."
