IT may take a while before Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser gets to fully rejoin the TNT Tropang Giga.
The third year big man to recuperate and rehabilitate from the ACL and meniscus surgery he underwent during the off season and has not given himself the definite timeline for a comeback until he’s finally 100 percent healthy.
Ganuelas-Rosser religiously watches every TNT games in the PBA Governors’ Cup including Thursday night’s 108-99 victory over Meralco that stretched the team’s winning run to four games for a league-best 6-1 record.
As he undergoes rehabilitation, the former no. 1 overall pick said he remains in total support of the Tropang Giga’s campaign to retain their championship.
“All I can do is just be there to support them,” he said. “The operation did well and it was a success. So far, so good with the rehab and healing," he shared.
“So it’s been about four months now post operation. Yeah, just getting stronger, getting better every day with rehab and physical therapy. Hopefully if this trend is the right way, I’ll be able to join the team in the near future.”
Ganuelas-Rosser went down with his first major knee injury during the summer in the Philippine Cup quarterfinals against Rain or Shine.
Asked if he’ll be able to play for TNT this season, the 30-year-old member of the Gilas Pilipinas pool said he’d rather take it slowly but surely.
“That’s yet to be seen. I just want to make sure that I get healthy first and make sure when I come back, I’ll be able to reach peak performance and be able to contribute to the team,” said the San Diego, California native. “I don’t want to comeback 80 or 90 percent and risk being a detriment to the team.”
At the moment, part of his routine is having physical therapy and lifting weights regularly to strengthen his knee and his left leg.
But definitely, he missed being on the court especially now with the Tropang Giga going greats guns going to the final stretch of the group stage.
“I miss playing a lot. I missed being with the guys, I miss interacting with them every day in practice, the grind being there together as well,” said the younger brother of Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
“It’s hard being away from the team, but they’re doing a great job and playing pretty well right now.”
