ALL but forgotten in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals opener, Jeron Teng was quick to make the most out of the playing time given him in San Miguel’s 93-84 win over Barangay Ginebra on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Teng finally came off the bench and hit 12 of his 13 points in the final quarter when the defending champions finally took control after being beaten in the series opener and trailing Ginebra for much of the first half.

The son of former San Miguel great Alvin Teng went 4-of-9 from the field, grabbed five rebounds, dished off three assists, and had the second best +- for the Beermen at 13 in the Game 2 win that levelled at 1-1 the best-of-seven semis.
He refused to say if the performance was a motivation for him after spending the entire Game 1 watching from the bench.
“As a player, my mentality is just being ready whenever my number is called. I think sa game na ito, I’m just focused on controlling the things that I have control of,” said the guard out of De La Salle.

“I’m just here whatever the teams needs me to do. I’m all for us to win. I’m all for winning a championship.”
Coach Leo Austria admitted overlooking Teng in the opening game which the Beermen lost, 99-90.
“Guilting-guilty ako nung first game dahil hindi ko siya nagamit,” said the San Miguel mentor.
But the following day, he approached Teng and told him to be ready.
Teng did and delivered an inspiring performance.
