BEAU Belga proved true to his word to behave for once for Rain or Shine and it translated into a championship at the expense of Alaska.
After taking the blame for their Game Five loss where he admitted making 'stupid' decisions, the Elasto Painters enforcer toned down his act a bit and kept his emotions in check on Wednesday night when his team finished off the Aces, 109-92, in their Commissioner’s Cup title series.
“Medyo na-relieve ako dahil yung sa kapalpakan ko ng Game Five, nakabawi ngayon,” Belga said after the game. “Sobrang saya.”
“Hindi ako masyadong nagsalita,” he added, explaining his behavior in the title-clinching game.
Belga only had four points – although two came from a putback that made it 99-84, on top of five boards, four assists before fouling out after 21 minutes – numbers that paled to those of Calvin Abueva, who registered a game-high 26 points and eight boards in 24 minutes.
But the RoS big man had the last laugh against the Aces superstar in their highly physical individual battle.
So wala akong masamang tinapay against sa kanya.”
Now, the proverbial thorn in his side has finally been removed.
“Nabunot na,” Belga said.
“Bawing-bawi ngayon,” the eight-year veteran added. “Matagal naming pinangarap ‘to. Ilang beses kami nag-try at lagi lang bitin, so now, talagang sinecure namin. sobrang sarap ng pakiramadam kasi yung frustration, napalitan namin ngayon.”
“He’s hoping they won’t wait that long again to win another one.
“Wag naman (ganun ka-tagal ulit),” he said with a smile.
