BEAU Belga took the blame for Rain or Shine’s 86-78 Game Five loss to Alaska, saying he committed a handful of stupid mistakes that led to the Aces dragging the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals further.
The Elasto Painters had their second chance to close out the best-of-seven series but failed to do so as Belga committed two crucial fouls in last two quarters, the first shifting the momentum to the Aces’ side.
The E-Painters were still leading by seven points when Belga committed a deliberate/unsportsmanlike foul on Calvin Abueva halfway through the third quarter, and saw their lead cut to just one entering the fourth period.
“Bine-blame ko yung sarili ko today,” Belga said. “Too much stupidity. Kailangan lang i-curve out ‘tong series na ‘to. Masyadong masakit pagka natalo pa.”
“Dun sa nangyari sa amin ni Calvin, yun yung naging turning point,” he admitted. “And ako, talagang pinagsisisihan ko. Hindi natin alam eh. kung hindi ko ginawa yun, baka sakaling champion na kami.”
The veteran big man was also ineffective on offense, scoring just four points on 2-of-7 shooting, along with only two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 18 minutes before fouling out for the second straight game.
His last foul was on RJ Jazul, reaching from behind to go for a steal, only to catch his arm with four minutes left in the game, giving the Aces playmaker two charities that kept the momentum on their side.
“Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘ang bobo mo Belga. ‘T*ng ina ka,’” Belga said. “Sobrang daming kalokohan at stupid mistakes.”
“Sobrang frustrated ko today,” he was quick to add. “Mas may maitutulong ako sa team ko kung nasa loob ako and walang kalokohan.”
“So seryoso muna sa Game Six.”
