ALTHOUGH his injury has yet to fully heal, Beau Belga has vowed to play in Game Four of the PBA Governors Cup semifinal series against San Miguel Beer as Rain or Shine fights for dear life.
Belga is still bothered by a swollen right ankle but bared he is not just suiting up but also ready to take on behemoth June Mar Fajardo, the main cog of an SMB team that is one win away from a trip to the finals.
“Lalaro na ko mamaya. Kailangan na eh,” said Belga when reached by Spin.ph hours before Game Four.
“Kailangan ko nang pilitin eh. Wala naman sigurong damage ito in the long run,” he added.
The 250-pound Gubat, Sorsogon pride is still bothered by pain on his foot which he injured in the opener of the best-of-five series, but claimed that the pain of an early season ending will be more excruciating for him.
Gusto kong makatulong eh. Kahit 80 percent o 90 percennt kalagayan ko, susuba na ko,” said the former Gilas Pilipinas reserve forward.
Belga also shared how he has been used to playing with pain.
Wala nang reklamo-reklamo,” he said.
Gusto kong makatulong talaga,” said the former PCU Dolphins star.
Gusto ulit namin mag-champion,” said the member of the 2012 Governors’ Cup team that won the first and only league title for the Rain or Shine franchise.
Belga bared the bad sprain was his worst so far in his seven-year PBA career.
Belga also revealed how Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao asked him several times regarding his decision to play.
Do or die na sa amin ito eh,” he said.
Though he will be playing on one good leg, the wide-bodied slotman declared he will do everything in his power to limit the production of top MVP candidate June Mar Fajardo.
