BEAU Belga was among the first ones to have a pair of the newly-launched Air Jordan 11 Legend Blue in time for Game Two of Rain or Shine’s PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series against Alaska.
Unfortunately, he didn’t get to have a feel of the pricey shoes for that long.
A sprained ankle forced Belga to have a short night in the Elasto Painters’ 102-95 win over the Aces on Saturday that evened their best-of-seven series at one-game apiece.
The burly, 6-foot-6 center stepped on the foot of Chris Exciminiano in the first half and sprained his ankle, limiting his playing time in the second half and was virtually a non-factor in the fourth quarter.
“Bago nga `yung sapatos, natapilok naman,” said Belga, while showing to Spin.ph his newly-bought pair of sneakers, inspired by the original ‘Columbia’ colorway of the Air Jordan 11 that first came out in the market in 1996.
“Kaya nagpa-sub na ako. Masakit din kasi,” said Belga, who bought the shoes on Saturday morning when it was first officially launched.
Belga finished with only two points (1-of-4 shooting from the field), had five rebounds, and three assists in 22 minutes of play.
“Ok naman siya e. Talagang aksidente lang,” said the Gilas Pilipinas stalwart.
A big fan of the great Michael Jordan, Belga hopes to have the pleasure of wearing the new pair of shoes when Game Three between the Elasto Painters and Aces is played on Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Oo naman , isusuot ko pa rin siya next game. Sayang kung ididisplay mo lang, e,” he said.
