BEAU Belga had no regrets over his two late miscues that hastened Rain or Shine’s downfall in the team’s 99-91 loss to Ginebra in Game Two of the quarterfinals on Wednesday night that eliminated the Elasto Painters from the PBA Philippine Cup.

With the E-Painters down by five, 96-91, the ROS enforcer had two chances to pull his team closer, but his lob to Raymond Almazan for a potential close basket was long, resulting in a turnover with 37 seconds left.

Ten seconds later, Belga missed the hoop completely on a three-point attempt off a pass from Gabe Norwood that would’ve made it a one-possession game.

“Pero hindi ako nagsisisi,” he was quick to add. “Any given day, bigay mo sa akin yun, titira ko yun.”

Instead of regret, what he feels is frustration after the E-Painters failed to get past the quarterfinals for the fourth straight conference.

“Frustrating syempre,” Belga said. “Sayang yung pagod eh.

“Pag sa Commissioner’s Cup, meron kang import na six-nine, so syempre mababangga yung playing time namin.”

After all, Belga had one of his best conferences ever, averaging 9.8 points, 1.3 triples, 6.5 boards, 3.3 assists, and 1.1 steals in 27.9 minutes in the eliminations.

I’m not happy with that.

“Pag nabasag namin yun, hopefully makabulag kami.”
