PUERTO PRINCESA - One of the most scenic tourist sites in the country, Palawan has nothing short of a paradise for PBA stars who converged in this scenic province for the All-Star Weekend.
El Nido, Coron Islands, and the world famous Underground River are just some of the most popular tourist attractions visited by the pro players in between activities lined up for the annual midseason spectacle.
On Thursday, PBA superstars led by former MVP's James Yap and Asi Taulava took a 15-minute boat ride to visit the Cowrie Island, the last stop for island hopping here at Honda Bay.
Purefoods Star Hotshots star Marc Pingris planned the impromptu trip with KG Canaleta, Peter June Simon, Marc Barroca, Reynel Hugnatan, Jonas Villanueva, Mark Macapagal and Purefoods therapist RC Cua, saying a visitor in this province shouldn't miss these breath-taking sights.
"Ang sarap din kasi ikutin ang mga tourist sites sa atin. Ako kasi pag bakasyon talagang sinasama ko pa family ko sa mga outing. Iba pakiramdam," said Pingris.
On the eve of the centerpiece All-Star Game, the PBA delegation was treated by sponsors Rio Tuba and Coray Bay to a day at the world-famous Dos Palmas resort.
In a playful mood as usual, Pingris served as the captain of the ship:
Canaleta brought with him his fully customized Go Pro camera to document the rare trip with fellow PBA stars, saying it is very rare that players can get together away from the court.
"Bihirang pagkakataon to na makalabas kami ng mga kaibigan kong players. Kasi lagi sa hardcourt kami nagsasama, mainam yung ganito, nagkaka bonding, lalo pa ngayon, pisikalan laro sa liga, atleast sa mga ganito, nagiging close kami," said the NLEX star forward.
Yap, a frequent traveller, said the best natural wonders are still here in the Philippines.
"Ang gaganda ng lugar dito sa atin. Palawan ang isa sa masarap i-visit kasi ang daming beaches saka ang dami mo pwede bisitahin. Ang daming adventures dito at pwede mong i-explore," said Yap, who sat at the open trunk of a pick-up with Pingris and this writer in the trip home from Cowrie Island.
"Masarap kasi sa likod ng pick up kasi sariwa hangin saka safe. Minsan mo lang gawin yun eh, enjoy mo ulit ang lahat ng ginagawa mo dati," he said.
