RAFI Reavis doesn’t mind going to another Game 7.
The Magnolia team captain said he and the Hotshots are ready to go to war with reigning champion San Miguel in a winner-take-all battle for the PBA Philippine Cup championship on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Reavis was quick to put behind him the 98-86 loss suffered by the Hotshots on Sunday night that leveled the best-of-seven series at 3-3. And he can’t wait to be back on the court to savor what he said were the ‘best two words in team sports.’
This will be the second straight series in which the Hotshots will be playing in a Game 7 after likewise going the full route against Rain or Shine during the semifinals.
“We’re ready, we’re happy. We don’t have anything to lose,” said the 41-year-old big man, who has played the most number of Game 7 in a finals among the current Magnolia players.
“I guess it would come down to who wants it more. They always say that the deciding game of a series is a players’ game and hopefully that’s the way it is.”
Reavis finished with 13 points and five rebounds in the Game 6 loss in which he had his hands full again trying to slow down five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
It didn’t help that he was in foul trouble for most of the time, which somewhat led to Fajardo pouring in another monster game of 23 points and 18 rebounds.
The Fil-Am veteran hopes he’ll be able to stay away from committing the same mistake again in Game 7.
“These days had just been very interesting. I was like June Mar before actually. I was the one who that had no fouls or one foul per game. And now I’m getting fouled out, five fouls, six fouls. I don’t know what it is,” said Reavis.
“’ll just try to stay on the court,” he said with a smile.
