MARK Barroca and Chris Banchero were summoned by the PBA Commissioner's Office for their physical encounters in Alaska's 90-76 win over Magnolia in Game Four of 2018 Governors Cup Finals on Wednesday night.
The two guards went at it for most of the game, but tension rose when Barroca was caught by television cameras hitting Banchero with a closed fist in the groin area with three minutes left at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Mobbed by reporters after the game, Barroca sidestepped questions about the hit. He also didn't issue any apology.
"Pisikilan naman pero dapat hindi masyado, kami ni Banchero magkaibigan naman kami. Sabi lang ni Com (Willie Marcial) na 'wag daw masyado," said Barroca. "Di raw maganda na masyadong madiin. Sa next game siguro 'yun ang napagusapan namin."
Asked again about the incident, Barroca said there are things that happen in a highly charged athmosphere.
"Mainit lang yung laban kanina. Nanalo sila ngayon so bawi na lang kami next game," said the veteran guard. "Wala naman na siguro, nangyari na 'yun e. Di pagkakaintindihan na nangyari 'yun, di naman sa inano ko yung insidente na yun pero game yun e. Di maiiwasan din."
Barroca said he already cleared the air with Banchero after the match.
"Kinongrats ko pa nga siya e. Nice game. Ganun talaga sa loob magaaway pero sa labas magkakaibigan kami."
