SEDRICK Barefield is staying put with Blackwater.
For now.
The prolific Fil-Am guard's contract has been allowed to automatically extend until the end of the season after the Bossing were unable to close any of the trade offers they fielded the past few weeks.

Rey Punongbayan, who represents last year’s No. 2 overall pick, confirmed the extension on Thursday in order for the franchise to retain its rights on Barefield.
The original deal of the 29-year-old sophomore was set to expire on July 15 but under PBA rules, contracts can be allowed to extend until the end of the season by mutual consent.
The Bossing had received several trade offers to acquire the services of Barefield, none of which however, appealed to team owner Dioceldo Sy.
"No good deals. We decided to stay as a team," he said.
Coach Pat Aquino reiterated the marching orders of Sy.
"Status quo. We will not move anybody as per Boss Dio," said Aquino, who carved out a name as one of the most successful coaches in Philippine women's basketball history.
"I think he want to see these guys perform muna."
The Bossing finished at the bottom of the standings in the last Commissioner's Cup with a 2-10 record and saw Aquino took over the coaching chores from Jeff Cariaso in the latter part of the eliminations.
