BARANGAY Ginebra and Rain or Shine will face off in the PBA 49th Season’s first out-of-town game on August 24 to be held at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
The Candon local government unit released details and ticket prices of the game on its Facebook page.
The Governors’ Cup clash is a follow-up to the successful staging of brand new Candon City Arena’s first PBA game last April 13 where Calvin Oftana scored 37 points in TNT’s 104-101 win over NLEX in front a full house.
PBA goes on the road sooner rather than later
The faceoff will be held just six days after the PBA 49th Season opens on August 18 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
After the TNT-NLEX encounter last season, the out-of-town game in Candon City will now feature the league’s most popular team with head coach Tim Cone, Justin Brownlee, former PBA MVP Scottie Thompson, and rookie RJ Abarrientos among the attractions.
Rain or Shine is likewise featured with coach Yeng Guiao, Beau Belga, Andrei Caracut, and rookie Caelan Tiongson eyeing to pull off a win.
The Candon City Arena was officially opened in 2023, and can seat as many as 8,000 spectators.
Outside the Barangay Ginebra-Rain or Shine clash in Candon City announced by the LGU, the PBA has not yet released the full schedule Governors' Cup games.
